We're Taking Your Favorite Childhood Books to Africa |
|
What's your favorite childhood book and Why? As some of you know, I will be leaving for vacation in Uganda in a little less than three weeks. While the main goal of this trip is to install solar light in clinics, schools and homes throughout the country, our group will also be spending some time in a couple of the orphanages over there. It has become customary over the last two decades that all those who go to Uganda leave children's books in the libraries of these orphanages. Needless to say, I'd like to continue this tradition during my visit. That being said, I simply cannot decide which books to bring for the kids! So tell me, what was your favorite book when you were a child? I'll be choosing some of these to take with me, so be sure to mention why it's your favorite. Thanks for your feedback and for helping out! -Peyton Hoffman ![]() ![]() -Solar Panels that have been installed on a clinic ![]() -The beauty of Uganda ![]() -Ugandan children doing traditional dance |

| My favorite was a book called "The Little House". It was my grandmother's when she was a little girl and every time I stayed at her house she would read it to me. It's such a cute book about enjoying the simple things in life over the hustle and bustle. |

| Goodnight Moon was always my favorite when I was a little kid. I remember my Mom reading it to me when I was a little girl, and my Grandpa (since passed) used to read it to me too when he would come over for dinner while he was having his sugar free pudding :) The little things we remember...http://www.amazon.com/Goodnight-Moon-Margaret-Wise-Brown/dp/0694003611 |
